Friday morning saw a wave of anxiety gripping forty-four private schools in Bengaluru as they received alarming bomb threats via email. The messages claimed that explosive devices had been strategically placed on their premises, prompting immediate action by law enforcement.

Authorities swiftly initiated extensive searches across these schools, dispatching bomb disposal squads to areas including Whitefield, Koremangala, Basveshnagar, Yalahanka, and Sadashivanagar. Karnataka's Home Minister, G Parmeshwar, assured a prompt investigation into the source of the threatening emails, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
While there are indications that these threats might be false alarms, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dyanand, stressed the need for stringent investigations to identify the perpetrators behind the hoax. Reassuring parents, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed that precautionary measures had been put in place to ensure safety within the schools.
In response to the alarming situation, one of the schools issued an immediate advisory, prioritizing the safety of its students and swiftly dispersing them from the premises. The incident also highlighted cybersecurity concerns, prompting calls for increased vigilance and enhanced security measures from officials.
Among the affected schools was one near Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's residence. Mr. Shivakumar, expressing concern over the situation, addressed the issue after being informed by the police and emphasized the ongoing investigation to address the matter and apprehend those responsible.
Police assured swift action, vowing to trace and apprehend the mischief-makers behind the threats. Last year's similar incidents involving hoax threats to schools in Bengaluru were cited, underscoring the importance of thorough investigations to prevent unwarranted panic and maintain safety within the community.
